...come to those who wait. I've stuck fairly close to home over the winter, a bit of walking and not much driving (the motor hasn't had anything in it for 6 weeks). My biggest miss over this time has been a decent Golden Eagle sighting. I have seen a few but....not this close. A fairly uneventful moment in time, standing by the loch, checking out the GN Divers and such like when two Curlew jumped from the shore and called in alarm. I looked towards where the Curlew had lifted to see a large bird approaching. The camera was on the front seat and I didn't want to miss this one. The Golden Eagle kept flying in towards me...
...a nice glide past...
...a couple of flaps...
...and it was banking away and over the trees never to be seen again.
I was as startled as this Red Deer!
Not much else to report apart from the build up in numbers of the returning breeding birds like Skylark...
...Lapwing, Golden Plover and the male Pied Wagtails are waiting for the ladies to appear!
