Photographer

Another trip out with a photographer was more about finding out the best sites for certain species than getting the actual sightings. We did get plenty of sightings on the day though. A Mountain Hare was in a difficult position to get close to it and eventually it wandered off.

As we headed back to the motor a male Hen Harrier was floating around.

WT Eagle was not one of our targets but we did find one all the same.

A surprise sighting was a day flying Pipistrlle Bat.

We put a bit of effort into visiting Golden Eagle sites but our only sighting was a distant dot on the top of a hill until we were heading back when we located this young bird gaining height over the main road!

Divers

A cracking start was had to this tour as we picked up all three divers. We had a look for Red Deer in misty conditions and found a few. A couple of Curlew were along the shore...

...while some Eiders and a single RT Diver were further out. The next diver we found was in bad light so we moved along and discovered it was a cracking BT Diver.

Next up was the GN Diver which showed well enough and an Otter on the rocks rolling about. Not a bad start to the day. Next up was a Pipistrelle Bat, with a youngster, clinging to a wall. If you look carefully you can see the youngsters feet either side of the tail.

The usual waders were still about and cracking views of two Golden Eagle were had while we had lunch.

A single Adder was seen by me but nobody else seen it as it moved off quite quickly. Ravens are being seen in good numbers at the moment and it was nice to get two perched up at the side of the road.

We only got a brief view of a WT Eagle but at least everyone seen it. Mountain Hare showed well...

...and a Pink-footed Goose was found amongst the Greylags.

On the return journey we got cracking views of an Otter as it clambered over the rocks.

I tried a few different settings on the camera and managed to fluff most of the shots but the sightings remain the same. A couple of Golden Eagle were seeing off this WT Eagle at the start of the day.

All the favourites were present with 1 Otter seen, several GN Diver, male Hen Harrier, Whimbrel, a WT Eagle at the nest where we had a young Golden Eagle being chased by a Raven.

An Adder was difficult to spot but we all seen it, a Slow Worm was found in the middle of the road and plenty of other stuff. Just after the guests had left this chipper chap turned up to munch some cones - a Common Crossbill.

The following day we got straight into things with a Brent Goose being found feeding on the tide line.

There were Ringed Plover and Dunlin on the beach, GN Diver in the bay and a Snipe dropped into the Iris at another location. A superb Red-throated Diver in summer plumage performed well while we had lunch. A male Common Crossbill was seen having a bath in a trickle of water.

A day flying Pipistrelle Bat was a good find...

...and it was nice to see the pale Buzzard again.

WT Eagle, Golden Eagle and Otter were seen in the afternoon plus Red Kite and Wood Warbler.
