Pair.

Just when you think things are starting to warm up we get another cold snap. People don't take too well to this change but, surely, most people have grown up with this weather of ours - I've seen snow in June. However, the wildlife doesn't get weather reports or news bulletins so life just goes on as normal. The Red-breasted Merganser numbers are rising steadily with the males looking splendid and the females feeding well to get into breeding condition.
A victory flap after swallowing the fish or does it help the fish go down?
There are good numbers of Stonechat this year. The males are starting to look good...
...and they are keeping a close eye on their females.
I've already mentioned the return of the Pied Wagtails but despite the numbers still growing there isn't a female to be seen yet - they will come!
